A letter from Tish

25th Jun 2020

Dear Parent/ Carer,

As we approach the summer break I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for your support and engagement during this terrible time. I hope you have found the learning packs and ideas posted by the teachers to have been of use and the emails, phone calls and videos to have been supportive.

I am sure you have numerous questions and concerns about what school will look like in September and I will do my best to address some of them both here in this letter and in a further letter in early July.

As yet the special school sector has not received official guidance from the department of education with regards to the ‘restart’ and ‘New School Day’, however, the management team have been working to prepare the school based on what we know at present.

Guidance from DE is due to be with us this week. When we receive this guidance the management team will develop a road map for back to school and share it with you as soon as possible. Hopefully, in the first week of July.

Please be assured that we want nothing more than to get all our children back to school as soon as it is safe to do so. I can further assure you that all PHA advice will be in place to ensure that Oakwood returns as a safe and happy school for all.

Please feel free to contact me at tmccann518@c2kni.net if you have any concerns.

Yours Sincerely

Tish McCann
