Forest Schools

Teacher: Marian (4)

Oakwood has been a Forest School since 2017, with 2 teachers trained as Level 3 Forest School Leaders. We have  an area of our school grounds as a dedicated Forest School site and every class has timetabled weekly sessions. Our Forest School sessions are a time when pupils freely explore different aspects of our natural world. We have an area dedicated to water play and exploration, a sheltered learning area, willow tunnel, mud kitchen and a very popular muddy puddle. During our Forest School sessions we offer activities such as den building or woodworking, and pupils are encouraged to investigate and explore in their own way.

We also have a school garden where pupils explore and learn about gardening, and grow our own flowers, fruit and vegetables.
